Everyone needs to take five sometimes.

Hi, I’m Bonnie, world’s biggest advocate of self-care. Ask anyone I know. My solutions include cups of tea and long baths, often paired with aromatherapy oils and a myriad of luscious candles.

There’s just something about coming home after a long Monday at work, and settling into a deep bath while catching up on YouTube (my personal favourite) or reading a good novel. The thought of this soothes me greatly. There are few things in life that are better than taking a little time out for you and you alone. Can you tell I don’t have children?

I generally pair my pamper nights with the ultimate current comfort food (pesto pasta with haloumi) and a glass of wine and some good TV – Friends (of course), Sex and the City or for some reason, this 4WD Action show Corey’s been watching. I’m as confused as you are as to why this settles me down. Moving on.

This here is my round-up of products that really enhance an easy evening. Tie your hair up lovers, run a bath, and let’s get into it.


The first, and maybe most obvious of my true loves on a pamper night, are candles. A good candle does wonders for the soul, and I personally like to pull out my more bougie scents to really bring a bit of luxury into the evening. Currently I’m crazy about the Byredo Burning Rose scent (just realised it literally says ‘bougie parfumee’ on the front). This one genuinely smells like burning rose petals and is a beautiful and calming scent that reminds me of camping, which always relaxes me.


Obviously, bath salts are my next go-to. I generally use a Lush product in the bath (I’m a diehard fan of Butterball), but on these evenings, I tend to go a little rogue. My two favourite bath salts are the This Works Deep Sleep Bath Soak (pictured below), which will actually make you sleepy like nothing else. The second is the Herbivore Botanicals Calm Ylang Ylang + Vanilla Dead Sea Soaking Salts which other than being absolutely beautiful, smells divine and make for a really sweet bath experience.


I also tend to use an oil in most of my baths to enhance skin nourishment. Currently I’m a fan of the Ren Clean Skincare Moroccan Rose Bath Oil which smells gorgeous and is so hydrating on the skin. The other thing I like to do is add the Herbivore Botanicals Coconut Bath Soak, which basically transforms your bathwater into a milky and holiday-smelling experience. It’s extremely softening for your skin and if you close your eyes, you’re basically in a tropical paradise.

I also love using a facemask while I’m in the bath. If I’m having a rough skin week (odds are I am, because these evenings are reserved for stressful days), I like to use one of the masks mentioned in my Troublesome Skin Masks post. Otherwise, I adore the Frank Body Glow Mask. It’s a sweet and natural smelling mask that is very creamy on the skin and moisturises like nothing else. Leaves you looking like a glowing goddess which is what each and every one of us needs.

I love to use a good body cream after a bath, and am currently loving The Body Shop’s Almond Milk & Honey Calming & Protecting Body Butter. It’s not sticky but it really nourishes and also sinks into the skin quickly without fuss. Plus, it smells gorgeous!
If I’m not using a Body Shop Body Butter (I go through these like crazy), I love the Lush Sleepy Cream, which is a mix of lavender, oatmeal and all of this good stuff that soothes like nothing else. I genuinely use this stuff as stress relief and highly recommend you smell it next time you’re in Lush.
